Radiical Pump Housing for Laing DDC-12 Volt

Since the introduction of our very first Turbo Head we have worked towards producing a pump top which emulated the very popular Laing D5 pump but with a much smaller footprint. The original Turbo Head and then the Series Two Turbo Head revision has paved the way for the latest development the Series Three Radiical Turbo Head. The Series Three Radiical Turbo Head is now available for purchase.

For some months we at Radiical have been researching a prototype Turbo Head Series 3 unit in order to tweak the highest level of performance from the Turbo Head design. Our results show the Radiical Turbo Head produces superior performance compared to Alphacool, Petra and OC Labs tops.

We can confirm that the Radiical Turbo Head produces greater pump head and flow rates than either of the tops mentioned previously using the lower powered 3.2 versions of the DDC pump.

We have conducted repeat testing on the Alphacool, Radiical and Petra tops . A brief synopsis of these results is given below in descending order of performance.

Radiical Turbo Head Series 3

18W DDC-3.2VCTP: Max. Head Pressure:5.5psi (37.92kpa) (~12.68'~3.86m)
Max. Discharge (flow): 15.38L/M~4.06 USGPM

Alphacool Top

18W DDC-3.2VCTP: Max. Head Pressure:5.5psi (37.92kpa) (~12.68'~3.86m)
Max. Discharge (flow): 11.81L/M~3.11 USGPM

Please note; Testing of the Alphacool top on the Laing DDC 3.2 is not recommended unless the restricting ring formed in the top of the Alphacool pump head is removed. The pump rotor will rise to contact this protrusion and will more than likely permanently damage the pump.

Petra DDCT-01s Top

18W DDC-3.2VCTP: Max. Head Pressure:4.75psi (32.75kpa) (~10.95'~3.34m)
Max. Discharge (flow):13.42L/M~3.54USGM

We also evaluated the operating sound level of the three pump tops during testing. The Radiical Series Three Turbo Head developed less operating noise than the other pump tops tested and was a clear leader.The sound levels of the Radiical Series Three Turbo Head were significantly better than the Petra top which remains the loudest unit we have measured.
