This is what Wombycat had to say about his project.

I built this computer in September 2007 armed only with a computer building bible from PCGamer and a gaming forum of friends, I quickly worked out that water cooling was my best option for getting the most out of my PC. Although I new very little about setting it up so I elected to use the more common air cooling (passive).

The original build was:
Asus P5K premium motherboard (specifically designed for water cooling)
Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU with thermalright ultra 120 extreme cooler
OCZ 850W GameXStream PSU
XFX 8800GTX xxx Extreme video card
4 GIG of Team Extreme dark 6400 RAM
Gigabyte Aurora 570 case

This build was quickly overclocked to 3.01 Ghz on the cpu and 960 Mhz on the ram (4,4,4,10 2.2V). I had reached 3.6 Ghz but unfortunately was not stable enough for my needs, though I did loop orthos for 18 hours at that clock.

 I knew the build was capable of much more but was unsure on how to go about it. That's when Tricia at Radiical computing offered some extremely valuable advice on my options and showed me some reviews on various CPU and GPU water blocks. This coupled with a colleague of mine already using a water cooled system with the help of Radiical and a d-tek water block, my next step became clear.

Once I had the water cooling installed I quickly overclocked the cpu to 3.6 Ghz at almost stock voltage (~1.35). Idle temp at that voltage was 19C and a load of 30C. This shocked and amazed me as I had a higher voltage on the cpu with the old build and a lower clock, not to mention the GPU incorporated in the loop. The GTX had a stock clock of 630mhz and memory of 1000mhz, this was easily overclocked to 650mhz and 1150mhz respectively with a small amount of voltage modding.

To sum up I was able to get performance of my Q6600 and GTX similar to a Q9860 and Ultra. I am one very happy camper. Thanks once again to Tricia and the rest of the team from Radiical computing.
